My New Years Resolutions - One month in to 2022

I know we are already a month into 2022, but I want to share some of my new years resolutions with you! There's not many because I want to be able to look after myself this year (while still doing well in University of course). So here they are!! Goals and resolutions of 2022!! - Do my best in all my subjects! I'll do this by not leaving things till the last minute and organizing my time. - Being brave! Being confident in myself when meeting new people and not being afraid to try new things. - Workout! I want to use my Uni gym and find workouts that make me feel good an excited to work out. I think I could really get into dance workouts, so we'll see where that leads. - Make the most of the Hall food! I am paying a lot of money for accomodation and I want to make the most of it! These are my main resolutions for 2022 and I honestly think that these are based more on when I move out so it will be easier to track my progress once I've moved out.  I am really looking forwa...

Time for a rename! and stuff (:

I originally started this blog as A Little House Plant, because plants sat and saw everything, so the blog was a place for everything. The Instagram page went from a chaotic blog repost to a coherent bookstagram and I couldn't be happier! I've really enjoyed posting throughout the 2021 period however I feel it's time for a change. So I've updated my name to The Lost Love Library! I like the ring it has (vaguely poetic) and I have a completely new theme for my Instagram (under the same name as this blog) coming as soon as I finish my 2021 posts! Keep any eye out for posts coming soon! Aroha nui xo

[1] The Shark Diary || Sharks - life, food, anatomy, threats, types and the like

Image
I have always had a passion for sharks, and now that I am getting older, I am able to start cultivating that passion and begin figuring out ways to aid and help conserve sharks and in turn the ocean ecosystem. Recently, I have been watching loads of shark documentaries and my passion for sharks has just kept growing. So what are sharks? food, habitat, lifecycle. How do they swim? anatomy. What threats are sharks facing? Humans and environmental issues. So what are sharks? Sharks are a type of fish that make up a part of the subclass Elasmobranchii which is a part of the class Chondrichthyes [2], making them a sister species to skates and rays [1]. Sharks are characterized as having 5 to 7 gills. They also have tough skin that is made up of small tooth like scales [2], these are called dermal denticles. Sharks also do not have a swim bladder, (the bladder used to keep fish in one place in the water), therefore they have to keep swimming in order to stop themselves from sinking ...

๐Ÿ•ฎ 5 books you *must* read in 2021 (warning: it's more than 5 because one is a series)

๐Ÿ•ฎ  The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller  ๐Ÿ•ฎ I absolutely love this book, it is my all time favourite and I would sell everything I own to be able to read it again for the first time. I get attached to books but this book was something else ( in a good way ). I was effected by this book so much that it influenced me to base my Level 3 art board on the story and I am producing some of my best and most favouritest paintings I've ever done! Anyway, this book. You should totally read it. ∞/10 stars. Basically, without giving too much away, this book is a retelling of the Iliad, in a more modern and focused way. This story follows the Greek hero Achilles, told from the point of view of another character, Patroclus. It tells about their lives and adventures and their heroic actions in the war.  This is probably the worst explanation you will ever read but that's the book in a nutshell without giving away any spoilers. Definitely read it though.  ๐Ÿ•ฎ The Perks of Being a ...

Body Acceptance : Talking about things we forget are normal

This ones a wee different and while I talk mainly about women's issues, this a societal issue and it is up to everyone to play their part in changing it. I have never had huge issues with my body and I like how it looks however there are always certain doubts that come when I'm overthinking which outfit I prefer. I believe it is truly normal to doubt ourselves and our bodies however it is how we react to our own negative judgements that determines how we see ourselves over all. I believe that body acceptance and body image are not common in conversation and they should be! How is anyone ever meant to know what's normal if people refuse to talk about it.  The ideal of being "constantly slim" is pushed in the media and in conversation and it is easy to forget that it is normal for you to look bloated after eating, you can't be "flat" all the time, the food has to sit somewhere.  As I said before, the media portrays women as also slim and small and this...

My Undying Love for Smoothie Bowls: Making Breakfast Fun

It's another food post! I'm really excited to write this post because I have fallen in love with smoothie bowls this year and I want to share some tips and tricks I've learned to make some of the tastiest smoothie bowls! Shoutout to @turmeric.oats on Instagram for helping me improve my smoothie bowl making abilities๐Ÿ˜Ž. Unfortunately, I do not have a food processor so I am very rarely able to make smoothie bowls because our wee smoothie maker doesn't have enough oomph to make thick smoothies.  So far, my favourite smoothie bowl would have to be banana and blueberry, with a banana and mixed berry in close second. The consistency of the smoothie bowl is probably the most important, it needs to be about the same thickness of soft serve ice cream. It's easier to get this by using frozen bananas or both frozen bananas and frozen berries. The more frozen elements you can add in, the thicker you are able to make the smoothie, as long as you have a food processor that can ...
