๐ฎ 5 books you *must* read in 2021 (warning: it's more than 5 because one is a series)
๐ฎ The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller ๐ฎ
I absolutely love this book, it is my all time favourite and I would sell everything I own to be able to read it again for the first time. I get attached to books but this book was something else (in a good way). I was effected by this book so much that it influenced me to base my Level 3 art board on the story and I am producing some of my best and most favouritest paintings I've ever done! Anyway, this book. You should totally read it. ∞/10 stars. Basically, without giving too much away, this book is a retelling of the Iliad, in a more modern and focused way. This story follows the Greek hero Achilles, told from the point of view of another character, Patroclus. It tells about their lives and adventures and their heroic actions in the war.
This is probably the worst explanation you will ever read but that's the book in a nutshell without giving away any spoilers. Definitely read it though.
๐ฎ The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky ๐ฎ
I was unsure about how I felt when I started reading this book however I actually really enjoyed it and would totally recommend it. This is a coming of age novel told in a series letters written by Charlie. It tells of his experiences and thoughts as he navigates the maze that is high school. I really enjoyed this book and it's so well written and some of the quotes in it are just wow
. Would 10/10 recommend. Should totally read it. Go do it. Now. This book is also a movie so if you don't like reading you can totally just sit and watch the move (I haven't seen it but the books good so I assume the movie is too).

This is another one of favourite books and I've for sure read it a fair amount of times and would totally recommend it. The only thing I will give away is that the ending is a complete plot twist that you will not see coming so if you like to be caught off guard go read it. 1000/10 stars.
In very short summary. This is about a girl who used to spend the summer with her cousins on her families private island. However she can't remember her last summer there and doesn't understand why her mother won't let her go back. She's tried emailing her cousins and hasn't heard anything back. So she spends her next summer on the island and tries to recover her missing memories. This book will keep your own your toes the whole time and you should totally read it.
๐ฎ A Court of Thorns and Roses Series by Sarah J. Maas ๐ฎ
Ok. I am not a big series reader because I really struggle to commit to the plot but THIS. SERIES. WOW๐. This story follows the journey of a mortal girl who kills a being she shouldn't have and is then forced to live in the rest of her life in the faerie lands. The series follows Feyre's journey as she falls in love and gets hurt and then has to fight for both the faerie lands and the mortal lands and the progression of the plots from the first book to the last book is just so well written and just wow. Once you've read the the series you will never want to read the first book again, that sounds weird just trust me. The first book is amazing when you read it for the first time but then you carry on the series and it gets better and you didn't think that was possible but it is and then realize how SELF CENTERED AND ANNOYING some of the characters in the first book are and you just want to scream. You need to read it ∞/10. Buy them even. Owning them is even better than just borrowing them.
๐ฎ They Both Die at the End by Adam Silvera ๐ฎ
I cried so hard at the end of this book and I don't know how to write about it without giving any spoilers away but I will try my best. In this book you get a call that tells you when you are going to die. It doesn't say when or how, it just tells you the day. This book is about the fate meeting of two strangers who meet on the day they are both meant to die. They meet through an app, last friend, which is where you can meet people who are also going to die on the same day. These two strangers spend their last day together and the rest is up to you to find by reading the book by yourself. I tried to give no spoilers so I hope I didn't๐จ. Definitely read. Go read. Buy it even. Make sure you have a dozen boxes of tissues and a nice warm drink.
I hope this inspires you to read some different books this year and I really hope you enjoy them and I'm sorry if they make you cry.
