I believe...

 I believe in many things. each different. each more or less beautiful or weird or crazy than the rest. 

I believe that the souls of the dead are here with us, all the time, just drifting, just watching.

I believe in true love but I also believe that love is something you work for and towards. I believe that love is a choice. 

I believe that being human means being real, with yourself and others. I believe that it is messy and contradictory. I believe that it is ok for it to be like that.

I believe in reincarnation, of coming back and getting to live life again.

I believe that when you are born, the first thing you do is cry because you remember everything from your previous life. I believe that as you grow up you forget it.

I believe that de ja vu is because you remember snippets of your old life. 

I believe that everyone has a different love language and that you eventually find someone who speaks the same language you do.

I believe that yetis exist and that big foot is paper thin so that when he turns sideways he can't be seen.

I believe that every coming of age movie is the same but I love them anyway.

I believe that reality and books are very different. Life will never be like a book, no matter how hard we try.

I believe that life is not about the destination but about the journey. I believe that it's ok for you to stay on the road as long as you have too. 

I believe that stories have meaning to us because they show us pieces of ourselves we didn't know existed.

I believe we laugh or cry because our body cannot contain all the emotion we are feeling. 

I believe that no one wants to die, they just don't want the life they've got. They want to live different. To be different.

I believe that there is more to every single human being than meets the eye.

I believe that the things you say when you are drunk are just sober thoughts. I believe they're truths you've hidden from yourself.

I believe that mistakes are ok, that messing up is ok. I believe that repeated mistakes are choices.

I believe that there is magic in the world. It's in words and music and art and nature and people. 

I believe that you can find beauty in the smallest things. I believe there is beauty in everyone as long as you look in the right places.

I believe that you cannot expect a person to be more than a person. People do not have that capability. 

I believe that everyone deserves happiness. I believe that everyone deserves kindness too. 

I believe that there is more than working until you die. I believe that that shouldn't be the only thing that matters. 

I believe that Valentines day is commercialized love. I believe it tells people they're only good if they're in a relationship.

I believe that everyone has a book or a movie or a song that resonates with them on some other level. I believe it's small things like this that keep people going. 

I believe in myself. I believe that I can make it through whatever is thrown at me. I believe that I will eventually live the life I dream of.

Recently my mum and I participated in the Project Jonah Marine Mammal Medic Course. Project Jonah is a registered charity that works with New Zealanders to protect and respect our marine mammals. They run solely on the help of their volunteers, whether they're helping with a stranding or simply just picking up rubbish on the beach. Their work can fall into three categories.  Rescue -  We deliver essential first aid to stranded or injured animals via our nationwide network of trained and passionate Marine Mammal Medics. Action -  Through our public education and awareness campaigns we inform and educate people, and encourage them to get involved. Protection -  We act as a watchdog to expose marine mammal suffering and help create and enforce laws that will protect these animals. Time for a rename! and stuff (:

 I originally started this blog as A Little House Plant, because plants sat and saw everything, so the blog was a place for everything. The Instagram page went from a chaotic blog repost to a coherent bookstagram and I couldn't be happier! I've really enjoyed posting throughout the 2021 period however I feel it's time for a change. So I've updated my name to The Lost Love Library! I like the ring it has (vaguely poetic) and I have a completely new theme for my Instagram (under the same name as this blog) coming as soon as I finish my 2021 posts! Vegan Cookies - Collab with @turmeric.oats

Recipe: 6 Tbs vegan butter, soft but not melted(you could use coconut oil but it may change the flavour slightly) 1/2 cup sugar 4 tsp brown sugar 1 flax egg (1 Tbs ground flaxseed, 2 Tbs boiling water) 1 tsp vanilla 1&1/4 cups all purpose flour 1/2 tsp baking soda 1 tsp salt Desired amount of vegan chocolate/ chocolate chips (I used about 1/2 a cup of chopped dark chocolate) Instructions: Preheat oven to 160 degrees Celsius. In a bowl, beat together vegan butter, the two types of sugar and the vanilla till creamed. Add the flax egg and salt and beat well.  Next add the flour and baking soda and mix until a soft dough forms.  Stir through your chocolate chunks.  Cover the dough and refrigerate for about 15-30 minutes (this is not necessary but helps make the cookies chewier) Scoop about 1 Tbs of the dough and roll it into a ball, place it on a lined cookie sheet and flatten well with your hands (they spread a bit not a huge amount) Repeat until all of the dough is used...
